I came home from school sick again, so... with a lack of anything better to do... I'm going to ramble.
Now, if you've been over to
houseclaims, this won't come as a surprise, but I
like Vogler. He represents, in my opinion, the perfect augmentation of the formula for this five-episode-special. The dynamic of evil vs. evil('cause House
is evil) is, in its own respect, intriguing.
But, as much as I've enjoyed him, I don't believe the chairman would have worked as a regular character. The conflict stirred things up, gave the show a shot of adrenalin, and pushed our previously-untouchable protagonist into some interesting, oft-uncomfortable places.
Aside from this, the Vogler story arc also introduced a "new" concept into the show -- continuity. Part of the appeal of
House, I think, is its relatively newcomer-friendly story; each episode really exists as its own entity until "Control," where a couple layers split off and dump into the next installment. As a rare treat, I wouldn't mind seeing more of these episode bundles in later seasons.
If the sides are anything substantial to go by, though, we might see more continuity all around. Can't really say how I feel about this 'til the rest of the season is aired, unfortunately.
Uh... what else?
Foreman. Almost the entire time Vogler was at PPTH, I couldn't help but notice that Foreman acted like he was on something. He was just... happy... and
nice the whole time. My theory? He didn't have enough screen time, and House was just too damned distracted by the ominous giant, the drooling fangirl, and the rat to give his duckling the proper dose of cane-prodding. His response to House's announcement of Cameron's resignation is an excellent piece of support --a flare up of the old Foreman.
Also, I thought he delivered one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the series last night. You can't even see his face under the mask and glasses, and it lasts no more than a second, but the body language speaks volumes.
( Foreman in 'B&B' )More later? 'Kay.
